Gulnaz: A Floral Escape
The books of history hold fascinating stories, but our bookmark remains intact at the chapter that tells tales of the Mughal Era. Gifted with a keen eye for beauty, their works continue to be a source of inspiration even centuries later.
Propagating a lifestyle and beliefs way ahead of their time, their forward-thinking ideologies are what set them apart. Known to enjoy the pleasures of life, Mughal princesses such as Princess Jahanara and Princess Raushanara would spend hours of their day in their gardens which they had designed themselves. Depending on the time of year, they would pick the garden of choice either against the Sun or under it. It is said whether the Kingdom was in the grips of battle, or draped in celebrations of a victory, the princesses would stick to their daily routines religiously. Spending time amidst the flowers in their gardens, they had created their own ingenious spaces of peace and happiness.
While most elements of their extravagant lifestyle cannot be replicated in today’s time, one can always take notes and give such helpful practices their own spin- now more than ever. Bound to our houses during the ongoing pandemic can take its toll. Working those long hours from home, with little to no social personal interaction, keeping mentally active and healthy becomes all the more important. Taking cues from the lives of Royalty, our upcoming collection- ‘Gulnaz’ has been conceptualized with the intent to create our own little world of positivity.
Literally translating to ‘The Shining Flower’ in the Persian language, styles from this collection come laden with charming floral embroidered patterns. Each style comes handcrafted in soothing soft fabric-making them ideal to wear through the day, regardless of whether you’re on a work-marathon or taking a quick breather. Guided by the light of the shining flower, this collection evokes a sense of gratitude and happiness.
In line with the inspiration for our new collection, we would like to take this opportunity to urge you to create your own little spaces of happiness- it could be your favourite corner in the house, or a small seating in the balcony- a space that you call your own where it’s just you, your thoughts and your happiness.
